XG (/ɛks-dʒiː/; Japanese: エックスジー; Korean: 엑스지), short for Xtraordinary Girls, is a Japanese girl group based in South Korea. They were formed by Xgalx, a part of the Avex Group. The group has seven members: Jurin, Chisa, Hinata, Juria, Cocona, Maya, and Harvey, each known for their talent, style, and confidence. 2022~2023
The Japanese girl group XG launched their social media on January 25, 2022 with a short video called “Xgalx – The Beginning”, showing the members training. They also shared dance and cover videos, including Jurin and Harvey rapping Rob Stone’s “Chill Bill” and Juria and Chisa performing Justin Bieber’s “Peaches”, along with solo dance videos for each member.
XG officially debuted on March 18, 2022, with the all-English single “Tippy Toes”. Their second single, “Mascara,” came out on June 29, and they made their first TV performance on Mnet’s M Countdown. Later in November, their rap cypher video “Galz Xypher” went viral on TikTok, reaching over 15 million views.
In 2023, XG released “Shooting Star” with the B-side “Left Right” on January 25. They made history on March 6 by entering the Mediabase US Radio Top 40, the first Japanese female artist and group to do so. Before their debut EP, “New DNA,” they released pre-release singles “Grl Gvng” (June 30), “TGIF” (August 4), and “New Dance” (August 23), all with music videos. The EP and its lead single “Puppet Show” were released on September 27, and New DNA was certified gold by the RIAJ for shipping over 100,000 copies.

In 2024, Japanese girl group XG announced their first world tour, with shows across Asia, North America, and Europe in October and November. On April 12, they teamed up with Riot Games to release “Undefeated” for the popular game Valorant, followed by the single “Woke Up” on May 21. Later in the year, they released “Something Ain’t Right” (July 26) and “IYKYK” (October 11) ahead of their second EP, “Awe,” which came out on November 8 along with the lead single “Howling.”
XG was also announced to perform at the 2025 Coachella Music Festival. They revealed that their first full-length album will be released on January 23, 2026, preceded by the pre-release single and music video “GALA” on September 19, 2025.

The Japanese girl group XG has received several awards and nominations for their music. Japanese girl group XG kicked off their first world tour, The First Howl, in 2024, performing across Asia, North America, Europe, and Australia. The tour started in Osaka, Japan on May 18, 2024, and included major cities like Seoul, Taipei, Singapore, Manila, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York, London, Berlin, Paris, Sydney, and Tokyo.
Some highlights included Osaka-jō Hall with 55,000 attendees, Yes24 Live Hall in Seoul with 65,000 fans, and Tokyo’s Ariake Arena with 30,000 attendees. The tour wrapped up with shows in Tokyo Dome, as well as stops in Brazil, Mexico, and Australia, featuring XG’s biggest hits and energetic live performances.
