Sharing similar squeaky clean, wholesome images, Suzy and Park Bo Gum are perhaps two of the most beloved celebrities in the K-Drama world. Now, after a long time, the two will be sharing the screen in their first film collaboration, Wonderland.
Wonderland is a science fiction slash romantic drama about a group of people and their relationships with technology. It boasts an A-list ensemble cast. Aside from Suzy and Bo Gum, there’s also Jung Yu Mi (Train to Busan), Choi Woo Shik (Parasite), Tang Wei (Decision to Leave), and Gong Yoo (Goblin, Train to Busan) in a special appearance.
The official synopsis goes as follows:
The moment of eternal separation that everyone must face, the story of people using the 'Wonderland' video call service that embodies the departed person through all the big data of everyday life.
The trailer hints at a melancholic vibe à la the Hollywood movie Her. Suzy and Bo Gum play a happy couple beset with an accident that leaves Bo Gum’s character comatose. She then nurtures her longing for him via his artificial intelligence recreation in Wonderland. But as actual and virtual reality start colliding, will she still know where the boundaries end?

Ahead of the film’s release, Suzy has been sharing cute selfies with Bo Gum.
With such a star-studded cast and intriguing premise, expectations for Wonderland are sky-high. Fans have been waiting for the Suzy-Bo Gum collab since the film was announced back in 2020. A full four years! And how can they not, with the star wattage between the two?
Let’s start with Bae Suzy.
She is a former member of the K-pop idol group Miss A, which debuted in 2010. At their peak, the group ruled the charts with hits like Good Girl Bad Girl, Breathe, and Goodbye Baby. Her immense popularity as an actress and CF queen quickly surpassed her idol career, especially after her appearance in the 2012 movie Architecture 101. Thanks to the film’s success, Suzy earned the nickname “Nation’s First Love” and became the most in-demand advertising model. The list of her endorsement deals goes on forever: beer, chicken, watch, outdoor gear, cosmetics, vitamins, coffee, chips, candy – you name it, Suzy’s probably had advertised it. She was later appointed Dior’s Korean brand ambassador, solidifying her soldout queen reputation.
After Miss A disbanded, Suzy dove full-time into acting. Nearly every drama she’s in is a hit, not only at home but internationally. She also routinely gets paired with A-list actors.
- Dream High (2011) with Kim Soo Hyun
- Uncontrollably Fond (2016) with Kim Woo Bin
- While You Were Sleeping (2017) with Lee Jong Suk
- Gu Family Book (2013) and Vagabond (2019) with Lee Seung Gi
- Start Up (2020) with Nam Joo Hyuk and Kim Seon Ho
- Anna (2022), which earned her a Baeksang Arts Award Best Actress nomination
Speaking of Baeksang, Suzy has been its regular MC since 2016. In 2018, she was joined by another actor who would go on to be her regular co-host: Park Bo Gum.
Now, let’s talk about Park Bo Gum.
Bo Gum first gained praise for his acting in Hello Monster (2015), where he played a baby-faced psychopath. Since then, he cultivated a winsome, pure image that began with his role as innocent Go player Choi Taek in the 2015 hit drama Reply 1988. That show made him a public darling and earned him the nickname “Nation’s Little Brother.”
His gummy smile (pun intended), top-notch acting talent, and lovable persona made him one of the most sought-after celebrities by advertisers, so much so that there is a term for it: the Park Bo Gum Effect. Basically, like Suzy, everything he endorsed enjoyed massive sales bumps. You name it: soda drinks, pizza, juice, instant noodles, white rice, chocolate, bed, and so on. He even made headlines when his Ace Bed CF broke the record as the fastest ad to surpass 10 million views.
So big was his impact in Korea that in 2017, Bo Gum ranked #1 on Forbes magazine’s Korea Power Celebrity list, the first ever actor to do so.
From his early days, Bo Gum’s acting has been consistently praised. After Reply 1988’s success, he went on to star in Love in the Moonlight (2016) with Kim Yoo Jung, Encounter (2018) with Song Hye Kyo, and Record of Youth (2020) with Park So Dam. The actor went on a military service hiatus from 2020-2022. He will next be seen with IU on the upcoming drama When Life Gives You Tangerines.
But first, he can be seen in Wonderland alongside Suzy!

This cute romantic comedy is a must-watch for fans of “small town” K-Dramas like Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha and Summer Strike. It follows the change in Samdal’s life after she moves back to her hometown in Jeju Island and reunites with her childhood friend, sparking a new romance between them. The soundtrack captures the bright, peaceful atmosphere of the K-drama and would be perfect as an addition to your music collection.
