What is Season 1 of Sweet Home About?

Sweet Home is based on a webtoon of the same name written by Carnby Kim, who is known for his chilling thrillers. The protagonist, Hyunsu, is a recluse with a traumatic past who moves into the Green Home apartment complex following the deaths of his family. Not long after, the world is thrown into chaos when people start turning into monsters due to a curse that feeds off human desire. However, Hyunsu is a rare exception as he is able to retain his human form while tapping into the unnatural abilities that a monster would have. Using this to his advantage, he works together with the other residents to survive in their monster-infested building.

Amidst the constant danger they face, Ui-myeong – another half-monster – appears and tries to convince Hyunsu to join his side, believing in the superiority of monsters over humans. Before the government arrives to “rescue” them, Ui-myeong takes over the body of a resident, Sangwook (Lee Jinwook), and flees, taking Hyunsu with him. We also witness the tragic death of Eunhyuk (Lee Dohyun), the older brother of Eunyu (Go Minsi), who acted as a leader to the Green Home inhabitants.

What is Season 2 About?

Season 2 continues from where Season 1 left off, showing Hyunsu and Sangwook being pursued by government forces. Though they escape, Hyunsu takes them both back to the Bamseom command center, where the military conducts experiments on monsters to create a vaccine. Meanwhile, the Green Home residents undergo various trials as they seek refuge, eventually joining a group of survivors sheltered in a stadium. The season ends with a shocking plot twist, showing a revived Eunhyuk smiling eerily at the camera.

What Will Season 3 Look Like?

Netflix released the official teaser for Season 3 on June 21st, and it contains various scenes that hint at what the final part of Sweet Home will be about. It begins with Sangwook entering the stadium with his followers, offering mercy to survivors who show symptoms of monsterization. It is possible that he is recruiting more neohumans like him to create an army and eliminate humankind once and for all. Hyun is also shown carrying his huge spiked wing, and it seems that he has regained his human side when he swears to kill the monster inside Sangwook for good. A figure that appears to be Eunhyuk stands behind him as he says this, leaving us to wonder whether he has returned to his normal self.
