Illit (pronounced EYE-lit; Korean: 아일릿) is a South Korean girl group formed by Belift Lab, a part of Hybe, through the 2023 JTBC survival show R U Next?. The group has five members: Yunah, Minju, Moka, Wonhee, and Iroha. They debuted on March 25, 2024, with their first EP, Super Real Me.

History (2023~2025)

2023

The girl group ILLIT was formed through the JTBC survival show R U Next?, which aired from June 30 to September 1, 2023. 22 contestants competed for a spot in Belift Lab’s first girl group and Hybe’s third girl group, after Le Sserafim and NewJeans. The final six members, Wonhee, Youngseo, Minju, Iroha, Moka, and Yunah, were chosen, with two selected by the public and four by the company. On January 5, 2024, Belift Lab announced that Youngseo left the group by mutual agreement.

2024

In 2024, K-pop girl group Illit debuted under Belift Lab with their first EP, Super Real Me, on March 25, produced with help from Hybe chairman Bang Si-hyuk. Before their debut, they made a special appearance at Paris Fashion Week, becoming the first K-pop group to do so. The EP includes four songs, with “Magnetic” as the lead single, along with “My World,” “Midnight Fiction,” and “Lucky Girl Syndrome.”

Their debut single “Magnetic” made history by entering four U.S. Billboard charts and becoming the first K-pop debut song to appear on the Billboard Hot 100, reaching number 91. The EP also charted internationally, with Super Real Me hitting #93 on the Billboard 200, and Illit reaching #41 on the Artist 100 and #2 on the Emerging Artist chart. Billboard named them the first-ever “K-Pop Rookie of the Month” in June 2024.

Later, Illit released their second EP, I’ll Like You, on October 21, 2024, debuting at #94 on the Billboard 200. On November 22, they released the English version of “Tick-Tack”, titled “Baby It’s Both”, featuring Ava Max.

2025

In 2025, K-pop girl group Illit expanded their global activities. On February 14, they released their first original Japanese song, “Almond Chocolate”, which was part of the soundtrack for the Japanese live-action movie It Takes More Than a Pretty Face to Fall in Love. A Korean version came out on March 10. In May, members Yunah and Minju were featured on “See U Tonight” by American singer Kylie Cantrall.

Illit released their third EP, Bomb, on June 16, with the lead single “Do the Dance”, followed by a music video for “Jellyous” on July 6 and a version featuring Canadian singer Sophie Powers in August.

The group also made their Japanese debut with the maxi single Toki Yo Tomare (Stop Time) on September 1. It includes four songs: two new tracks (“Toki Yo Tomare” and “Topping”), a Japanese version of “Do the Dance”, and “Almond Chocolate”. “Topping” was pre-released on August 11.

Awards

Since their debut, K-pop girl group Illit has earned recognition both in South Korea and internationally. Their debut single “Magnetic” and first EP Super Real Me have won multiple awards and received numerous nominations.

Concerts & Tours

K-pop girl group Illit has held several concerts in South Korea and Japan. Their “Glitter Day” tour began on June 7~8, 2025, at Olympic Hall in Seoul. They then performed in Japan at Pia Arena MM in Yokohama on August 10–11 and Osaka-jo Hall in Osaka on September 3~4. The tour concluded back in Seoul at Olympic Hall on November 8–9, 2025.
