Cherry blossom festivals which take place in the Far East are world-famous. Along with the fall season, the best time to visit Korea is when cherry blossoms. Usually, in Busan, Gwangju, Jeonju, Daegu and other southern regions cherry trees start to bloom around the 22 – 31 of March and in Seoul, Incheon, Daejeon and other central regions around the 31 of March – the 7th of April.
1. Jeju Cherry Blossom Festival (제주 왕벚꽃축제)
Status: Cancelled
Jeju island is located in the very south of Korea. Therefore, no wonder that the first cherry blossoms bloom here. During the festival period, it’s okay to walk down Jeonnong-ro Street since it’s closed to all vehicular traffic. At the spot, you can find a cherry blossom photo zone and enjoy a variety of cultural events. Furthermore, thanks to the vast lighting system visitors can enjoy beautiful views fully day and night.
2. Hwagae Cherry Blossom Festival (화개장터 벚꽃축제)
Status: Cancelled
There are so many cherries in Hwagae region, that when the bloom starts, it looks like as if the whole region is covered in snow. One of the most picturesque spots to enjoy the bloom is the Simri (10-ri) Cherry Blossom Road, also known as the “marriage road”. The legend says if lovers walk down this road while holding hands, they will get married and live happily ever after. Visitors can also participate in a number of seasonal cultural events.
3. Yeongdeungpo Yeouido Spring Flower Festival (영등포 여의도 봄꽃축제)

There are many places where you can enjoy cherry bloom in Seoul but the most representative festival is the Yeongdeungpo Yeouido Spring Flower Festival which takes place at Yeouiseo-ro, the street lined with cherry trees. Not only cherry trees but also azaleas and forsythias give the area a scenic view. Besides, visitors can attend cultural street performances, a flower decoration exhibit, and a photo exhibit taking place throughout the festival period.
4. Jinhae Gunhangje Festival (진해군항제)
Status: Cancelled
At Jinhae Gunhangje Festival numerous cherry blossom trees create fantastic tunnels to walk through. The cherry blossom petals falling down like pink snow will transport you to a dream-like world! Nearby are held various events, including the Jinhae International Military Band & Honor Guard Festival and fireworks show.
5. Jecheon Cheongpungho Cherry Blossom Festival (제천 청풍호 벚꽃축제)
Status: Cancelled
In Jecheon city in the Cheongpung Lake area varied spring flowers such as white cherry blossom, forsythia and azalea are blooming. There visitors can enjoy the views participate in various leisure activities and sports events. For example, bungee jumping. Apart from seasonal exhibitions and performances, they can also sightsee the Cheongpung Cultural Heritage Complex and SBS Filming site which are conveniently located nearby.
