The Start of Hearts2Hearts
People have been buzzing about Hearts2Hearts ever since SM Entertainment first hinted at their debut all the way back in February 2023 as part of their SM 3.0 corporate strategy. But things really took off on January 12th, 2025, at the SM Town’s Live concert at Gocheok Sky Dome, when a surprise trailer finally revealed the group’s name.
According to SM, the name “Hearts2Hearts” reflects the group’s goal to connect with fans across the globe through a “mysterious musical world,” and they wasted no time building up the hype. The members launched their official Instagram on January 31st, followed by the “Chase Your Choice” teaser on February 3rd, giving fans a first glimpse of their artistic vision. Fun fact: at 8 members, Hearts2Hearts is SM’s largest girl group since Girls’ Generation!

Jiwoo (Leader, Main Dancer, Visual, 2006)

The Debut Single: “The Chase”
Hearts2Hearts officially debuted on February 24th, 2025, with the single album “The Chase,” featuring two tracks. The title song, “The Chase,” is a dreamy, bass-heavy pop track with an “Alice in Wonderland” inspired concept. Co-composed by the chart-topping British R&B group FLO and SM’s legendary producer Kenzie, it blends R&B smoothness with SM’s signature vocals. Meanwhile, the music video follows the girls as they go on a journey of self-discovery, stepping into the city landscape where they transform, embracing their true selves.
Their B-side track “Butterflies” brings a totally different vibe with a mid-tempo R&B sound that lets their vocals shine, balancing youthful energy with a sophisticated sound. Greatly hopping on the trend of easy listening, SM is taking a different step with their girl group. Overall, the two songs do a brilliant job of sonically describing the aesthetic and concept of this new group.
